Designing Your Smile

Using smile guides you can help design your smile from a wide variety of shapes for your teeth, each of which will have a unique effect on your overall smile and appearance.

Certain characteristics are carefully chosen for effects that can make you look more youthful, feminine, masculine, or mature- to name a few. This is done be changing aspects such as tooth lengths and widths in relation to each other and to the face, and by deciding how rounded or square each corner will be. In addition to the shape design, we will choose the color, translucency, and surface texture of your new teeth.

These can be done in porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns, or a combination of the two, depending on the state of your existing teeth.

To see how this works, notice the photos in the center column.

The “Enhanced” smile is very popular. Note that the second teeth from the center are slightly shorter than the front teeth. This looks more youthful than many of the other designs, and often looks very nice on women. The “Hollywood” smile is more masculine and shows a little more tooth. The “Oval” style is sometimes used for someone with a very round face, and is a more youthful look. The edges are more rounded on these teeth.

These are only a few examples of the many effects that can be worked into your smile to find the style most fitting for you.
